Statute

The Fondazione Roma is the largest Italian foundation of banking origin with a membership. The Foundation continues, with no historical interruption, the mission of the pawn-broking Institution Mount of Piety of Rome established in 1539 in order to fight usury and the Cassa di Risparmio di Roma which purposely incorporated the former in 1937.

The new identity arising from the separation of the banking business from philanthropic activities made the Foundation fully entitled to be classified as a foundation established under civil law that acts in the interest of the community.
